The Halifax Donair

So this past Sunday night I had the most fun I've had in a long time. I forgot how much fun it is to just laugh and goof off :) After gospel meeting in Halifax, a bunch of us young twerps headed across the bridge to go to Robert's Pizza, Donairs and Subs. Now I had only recently heard of the place and I was pumped for a good ol' Halifax donair (for all you who have never had the pleasure of consuming such a delicacy... I pity your incomplete taste buds! ). When we arrived, I told the gals that I would "go in" with them with whatever they chose as I had to run and get gas (Gertie was running pretty empty). When I got back, I come to find out that the three of us were going to share a medium and the guys were pairing up to share smalls. Now I was pretty hungry so at first this baffled me but once our orders were up I quickly realized that this establishment was a quantity over quality kind of place. I think the menu itself pretty much sums it up:

Notice the belly buster? That thing is insane. There is even a youtube video of some guy eating one... by himself! That is one load of meat! I also love the fact that extra cheese is an option!

We then all went to the Frith's to sit down and begin our feast and try to comprehend the size that a belly buster must be if 3 substantially hungry gals had a difficult time to finish off a medium!

"Emily Sandwich" and yes, we consumed that football!

This picture doesn't do the size justice but try to compare it with the can of pop. Insane!

So excited we didn't even take our hats off! Devon opted for a poutine.

Done... well almost :)

On a whole, awesome night with a awesome people and awesome food (although Euro Pizza still makes the best donair in my mind). It actually even made me miss Mexico because in a weird way donairs are like tacos al pastor..."Balcony Tacos anyone?!"

Family Package looks a bit sketchy...
some thought it was probably just the belly buster with plates! ;)
